The official website of the Mount Victoria Highway Bypass Action Group

Goals

Mount Victoria Highway Bypass Action Group has five goals

  1. To support the Blue Mountains City Council banning B-Double trucks from the roads of the Mountains and the valley.
  2. To have the proposed upgrade to the GWH from Mt Victoria to Lithgow ABANDONED.
  3. To redirect the funding from the unwanted Mt Victoria upgrade to a Stage 1 development (Newnes Plateau) of the future Bells Line of Road upgrade as announced by Premier Rees.
  4. To continue the safety improvements to Victoria Pass and River Lett Hill.
  5. To support the development of an integrated Rail and Road network that would link the Central West with the Coast.

We ask for a commitment to ban B-Double trucks from traversing the Blue Mountains and Hartley Valley roads and invest in upgrading our Rail System for transportation of goods.

We ask for a long term strategic plan that is consistent with the major findings of the Central West Transport Study and provides a better balance between road safety and efficiency and the social and environmental consequences for the heritage listed area of the Blue Mountains and Hartley.

We ask that the Great Western Highway be for tourist, local and commuter traffic.

We ask for the fast tracking of an integrated rail and road network for the transportation of freight and passengers.

To support our goals, please download a submission Form and submit to the RTA before 20 Nov 2009.
