What issues will savemtvic raise at the RTA road safety meetings to be held at Hartley and MtVic, 28/6/2010?
I suggest :
In the interests of road safety and efficiency and recognising the inter-regional connection function of highways, particularly the GWH, does the RTA have a holistic highway planning policy that would ensure that all future highway routes are completely removed form town areas?
If not - Why not??

This proposed upgrade of the GWH is ABSURD!
It will simply perpetuate the inefficiencies of the existing road and is exactly what we should be trying to avoid.

Thanks for commenting Stuart.

It's great to hear how these issues are affecting everyone in the top end of the village.

As a co-founder -in fact the first person to propose our Action Group at a Closeburn initial gathering, under Peter & Margaret'.s gracious patronage, I uphold our 5 point stated beliefs. I've put in enormous time in this regard, from computing letters to Parliamentarians to 'Shock Jocks, teaming with' Phil (Mas), letter box delivering, pounding pavements, preparing school meetings etc and having our say at other metings up and down the Mountains, as well as attending our parent Assoc meetings & keeping them informed. I do my bit at party & trivia nights too, etc, etc, though not always well and being constantly sleep deprived opposite Caltex at our Village 'top- end' .

"Our Beliefs" point 3, state how "we're committed to protect the families and homes, business, heritage & environment of Mt Vic & surrounding areas". Phil & I have been fighting for Harley Ave under siege, as much as anyone, with the mounting threat of destruction and our Secretary Margaret will vouchsafe how much I've written and worried for ALL under threat of being tunnelled under or besieged in any way.

Finally, people are becoming supportive of the Caltex end of town "families and homes" (see point 3 above) already under 6yr long, shameful, agonising siege now, longer than anyone in fact.. Janet Mays, Terri Hamilton, in fact all Councillors - with a motion from Janet just before the Harley Ave one, are approaching RTA re erecting attractive, peace-giving sound Barriers ,along our Highway where Unnoficial Truck Parking is Noise Polluting residents night and day (not just passing by). It Is Hell! Do support the Councillors please.
Phil & I have presented latest research & letters of protest & help-seeking, to MVCA, & MVHBAG, from worn out residents, Please now get behind us treating our whole Village as one - end to end/ " All for one and one for all". Blessings/ Stuart.

Mr Thomas , the activities of the Mt Victoria Highway Bypass Action Group reflect the concerns of worried residents, not specific individuals. All residents of the Blue Mountains will be affected if the steep grades of Victoria Pass are bypassed that in turn will allow the passage of large BDouble, then BTriple trucks across the suburban roads of the Mountains.
We do not believe truck drivers want to be subjected to multiple sets of traffic lights, school zones, speed zones, scores of intersections and nearly 600 driveways. It is not safe for them, for residents and for the many tourists who visit the Mountains.
We are supportive of highway upgrades for safety purposes however we cannot support a project that is now estimated to cost taxpayers an unjustified $2 BILLION. We have recommended a solution for Victoria Pass that would see safety upgrades carried out for some tens of million of dollars (not billions).
We also support both our State & Federal politicians in their call for more freight to be carried by rail.

Rory mack has a vested interest in not liking the orange corridor.....His house is right in the middle of it.The caltex was build and operational long before mr mack finally finished his house. He must be pleased that there is no hot food being sold after 10pm at the caltex.Due to staff cuts.

A little elf told me that macquarie bank is financing the bells Tollway...So dont lose any sleep mr mack...
